VeraBIM is a tool for coordinating, documenting and finding information in a construction project. It does not replace construction documents, inspection officers (kontrollansvariga), on-site measurements or professional judgement.
1. A tool, not advice
Everything that the service displays, calculates or compiles is for guidance only. We do not provide any technical, legal or other professional advice, and nothing in the service is a certificate, an inspection, an approval or a guarantee. You and your company are responsible for checking the documentation and for all decisions on design, execution, checks and safety. You use the service and its results at your own risk.
2. Drawings, models and file formats
Drawings and models are displayed as they have been uploaded. We do not change the files, but the service interprets them: IFC files are read by our own engine and PDF files are rendered in the browser or the app. The display may therefore differ from the program that created the file. Parts may be missing, simplified, shown in the wrong colour or placed incorrectly, particularly if the file deviates from the standard. The model report at upload shows what could be read, but it does not detect all deviations. Check against the original document before you make decisions.
3. Revisions and documents in force
Which revision applies, and whether a document is approved for construction, is always determined by the project's own procedures and the established documents, not by what happens to be uploaded, marked, approved or distributed in the service. An acknowledgement from a distribution list only shows that the recipient has confirmed via their link, not that the document has been read or understood.
4. Measurements, laser and quantities
Dimensions, distances, laser projections, areas, volumes and quantities are calculated automatically from the geometry of the model or drawing as drawn, using the scale or calibration that has been specified. They may differ from reality because of modelling errors, simplifications, an incorrect scale or calibration, incorrect georeferencing, rounding or the building not having been built according to the documents. The values are for guidance only. Check-measure on site and check the quantities before they are used for cutting, ordering, cost estimating, invoicing, inspection or other decisions of financial or safety significance.
5. Clash detection and model checks
Clash detection, model rules and IDS checks compare the models according to the rules and tolerances that have been selected. They do not find all errors, and a result without hits does not mean that the models are free from clashes or deficiencies. Nor does a hit necessarily represent an actual error. The results do not replace the coordination and review carried out by the designers.
6. Position and georeferencing
”My position” places the phone's GPS position in the model using the model's own georeference (IfcSite or IfcMapConversion). The position may be wrong by several metres, especially indoors, near tall buildings or if the model's coordinates are wrong. Use it for orientation, never for setting out or for deciding where something may or may not be carried out.
7. Checks, reports and documentation
Checklists, self-inspections, safety rounds, the site diary, photos, tasks, scheduling and generated reports contain what the project's members have entered themselves. We do not review the content. A report from the service is a compilation of the data at a particular point in time and is not in itself a certificate, an inspection or an approval. Responsibility for ensuring that checks are carried out, documented and retained in accordance with the Swedish Planning and Building Act, the Swedish building regulations (BBR) of Boverket, the Swedish Work Environment Authority's provisions, AMA and contracts rests with the client, the contractor and the person carrying out the check.
8. Offline mode and synchronisation
Content that has been downloaded to the device may be out of date when there is no connection. Changes made offline are sent when the connection is restored; if someone else has changed the same item, a conflict is shown that you must decide on. Changes that exist only on the device may be lost if the device is lost or breaks, or if the browser's data is cleared before they have been synchronised. Do not rely on an offline copy for decisions that require the latest state.
9. Notifications and reminders
Notifications and daily reminders about deadlines are sent insofar as e-mail and push services are working and you have chosen to receive them. A missed reminder does not release anyone from a deadline or an obligation.
10. Content from others
Files and data that other members add, safety observations from QR forms and material from other programs and systems (for example IFC, PDF and BCF files) are the responsibility of the respective sender. We are not responsible for such material being correct, complete, up to date or free from malicious code. The service restricts which file types can be uploaded, but be careful with files from unknown senders.
11. Data and backups
Data in the service may be lost, for example through technical faults, intrusions or mistakes. Keep your own copies of everything that is important for your project, and of documentation that you must retain under law or contract.
12. Beta version and liability
The service is a beta version under development. Features may be changed or removed, and errors may occur. Our liability is limited in accordance with the terms of use, and this disclaimer forms part of them. Please report errors to support@verabim.com.
